Title: Design method for an underwater drone obtained by additive manufacturing and topological optimization.
The aim of this thesis is to develop an innovative methodology for designing and optimization of underwater UAVs, using additive manufacturing (AM) and topological topological optimization. Currently, the manufacture of AUVs (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles) relies on conventional processes, which are often costly and time-consuming.
The collaboration between the COSMER laboratory and Exail has demonstrated the potential benefits of FA, notably in terms of mass reduction, improved buoyancy and optimized hydrodynamics of UAVs. However, challenges remain in moving from traditional methods to AF.
This thesis proposes to redesign critical parts and develop new designs drone designs by integrating advanced optimization criteria. The research program will include a literature review, study of design constraints, identification of FA-optimizable components that can be optimized by FA, as well as experiments aimed at improving performance (mass, buoyancy, hydro, cost, etc.). The expected outcome is a complete methodology for the design of underwater UAVs using FA, enabling their efficiency to be improved while reducing production costs.
