PhD topic
Title: Semi-real-time trajectory generation for WAAM additive manufacturing from in-situ interlayer geometric measurements.
Since 2017, the COSMER laboratory at the University of Toulon has been developing robotized additive manufacturing activities by depositing polymer materials (FDM/FFF 3D printing) or metals, and has acquired a WAAM cell equipped with a FANUC robot and two-axis positioner, as well as a FRONIUS CMT welding generator.
The aim is to integrate a non-contact geometric measurement sensor (3D scan by structured light projection and stereovision) to correct the trajectory during manufacture, in semi-real time (between two deposited layers, i.e. a few tens of seconds).
The work to be carried out involves deploying these new experimental resources and developing the associated semi-real-time processing algorithms, using the measured data to calculate the corrected trajectory of the next layer.
